Momentum Starts When You Take Action

I came across this video by Geoff Schultz that was made for Elevation Church. The graphics are fun, but the message has been recurring for me lately – take action… do something… move… go… take the next step… put ideas into motion…

I get it.

I lost momentum. Over the past year or so, I’ve gained some new momentum back, but there is much that still feels stalled. Pray I make the right steps next, that I incarnate the right ideas.

  1. I agree with that half of the equation. We definitely need momentum, movement, etc., on our behalf.

While watching this, two passages popped into my head. First, was one little phrase from Acts stating that “The Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” The second is the passage in 1 Corinthians concerning how we can sow seeds, water, tend, but God causes growth.

I can move a lot, but am I moving for and towards the plans of God? He makes plans, movements, actions succeed and worthwhile.

I know you believe this as well and weren’t trying to sell God short, but these were first thoughts. 🙂

  2. I totally agree, Shane. Momentum can be gained in the wrong direction as well as the right if we’re not submitted to Him.

My problem isn’t selling God short… but selling myself short with a small attitude that says my little bit of action isn’t going to amount to much anyway, so why bother. That only leads to more inertia and no momentum in any direction at all.

Certainly, there are times for being still and seeing God do what only God can do – but I’m amazed at how often He only does that when some person does what he needs to do as well.
